Station Casinos Forge Ahead With New Henderson Property

Station Casinos is continuing to make plans for the future of the company. While Stations already has two Nevada casinos under construction, it’s forging ahead with plans for a casino in Henderson.

Last week, Henderson City Council approved the sale of 3.76 acres of land to Station Casinos. This will join the 45 acres of land that Station Casinos already owns in this part of town.

The company is now planning to build a casino in West Henderson. The property will be in the Inspirada area, about 20 minutes from the center of the Vegas Strip.

Station Casinos has two types of properties in Las Vegas today — full-service and casino-only. For reference, Durango Resort will be a full-service property when construction is completed. The downtown Las Vegas Wildfire will be a casino without a hotel. The plans for Inspirada are closer to Durango than Wildfire.

Station Casinos Inspirada plans

The initial plans from Station Casinos show that Inspirada will be a full-service casino and hotel. The company is planning to build a 600-room hotel for the property.

Plans call for an 80,000-square-foot casino floor at Inspirada. For comparison, this is about the same size as Palace Station and Flamingo and smaller than Planet Hollywood. Plans include four individual restaurants and a food hall with 11 dining options.

Like many other Station Casinos properties, Inspirada will have a movie theater and bowling alley.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal mentioned that Scott Kreeger, president of Station parent Red Rock Resorts (parent company of Station Casinos), is intimating that this will be a high-end property on par with Red Rock Casino in Summerlin and Green Valley Ranch in a different part of Henderson.

Additionally, the 30,000 square feet of meeting space could attract businesses.

Station Casinos hopes to begin construction in January 2024, according to 8 New Now, and open the casino around March 2025.

Path forward for Station Casinos

Station Casinos has been forging a new path forward since reopening after the peak of the pandemic. The company shed some of its less profitable properties after casinos were allowed to reopen in 2020.

Station Casinos decided to sell Palms and destroy three other casinos that didn’t contribute much to the bottom line. Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho and Fiesta Henderson are no longer standing. The latter was recently sold. Station Casinos recently sold the Fiesta Henderson land to the City of Henderson.

Today there are six full-service Station Casinos properties:

• Boulder Station
• Palace Station
• Green Valley Ranch
• Red Rock Casino
• Santa Fe Station
• Sunset Station

There are also 10 Wildfire casino-only properties around Las Vegas.

Station Casinos is looking to rebuild its Las Vegas empire by doubling its portfolio. This year the company broke ground on Durango Resort in the southwest part of Las Vegas and a new Wildfire Casino in downtown Las Vegas.

Station Casinos has usable land throughout the Las Vegas valley. Earlier this year, the company closed Wild Wild West casino just west of the Vegas Strip.

It also purchased more land south of the Vegas Strip on Las Vegas Blvd. Earlier this year, Kreeger said ​ the company was looking forward to building a new property in North Las Vegas.

This is a long-term plan to rebuild the Station Casinos portfolio. The company has said that it plans only to build one property at a time. Durango Resort is currently under construction. This property is on schedule to open late next year.

If the company holds to that timeline, construction on the following casino should begin in early 2024. It appears as though the new casino resort in Inspirada has leaped to the top of the priority list.
