This year, two new retail sportsbooks have been inaugurated on the casino floors of downtown Las Vegas. Both of these new establishments are appropriately fitted in their respective casinos.

Boyd Gaming’s Fremont Hotel and Casino has inaugurated a FanDuel-branded sportsbook as part of their property expansion, while Caesars Sportsbook has launched its first retail location in downtown Las Vegas, located inside Downtown Grand.

Despite being newly branded sportsbooks, neither provides different odds than their previous locations.

Caesars Sportsbook at Downtown Grand

The original William Hill sportsbook, in operation since 2007 when Downtown Grand opened, has been replaced by the new Caesars Sportsbook. This is the sole downtown Las Vegas location for Caesars Sportsbook.

Apart from the physical space, bettors will notice few alterations. William Hill is owned by Caesars, and they both offer the same sportsbook menu.

One significant alteration is that gamblers can now earn Caesars Rewards points when placing bets on sports at Downtown Grand. Unlike other games at Downtown Grand, the sportsbook doesn’t provide Grand Points.

Besides adopting a new brand name, the sportsbook has also relocated within the casino. Its former location near the lobby is set to be repurposed in the future. It is now situated in the former high-limit slot machine room, which is near the cashier and on the other side of the casino.

The new non-smoking Caesars Sportsbook houses four cocktail tables, each accommodating four people. A few leather chairs are also available for individuals in front of the video screen wall.

The video wall has sufficient size to display eight games simultaneously. It’s likely that there is enough room on both sides of the video wall to either accommodate four more games or to install larger screens.

Four additional cocktail tables are situated just outside the sportsbook, providing a good view of the five screens above the entrance to the new sportsbook.

The sportsbook has seating for fewer than 40 people in total, both inside and outside.

The Downtown Grand’s Caesars Sportsbook is open every day from 8 am to 9 pm. Players have the option to place bets either at the counter with a person or at one of the two kiosks.

A Caesars Rewards card must be presented by anyone wishing to place a pre-game wager amounting to $2,000 or an in-play bet of $1,000 or more.

Downtown Grand is persistently modernizing its casino floor. Soon, a new electronic table game pit will be situated adjacent to the existing live dealer games.

FanDuel Sportsbook at Fremont Hotel and Casino

Boyd Gaming has recently finished an expansion of the Fremont Hotel and Casino, located near Downtown Grand at the Fremont Street Experience. The property extension includes additional gaming space and a fresh food hall.

Besides the new FanDuel-branded sportsbook, a host of new slot machines are also available. The newly introduced food hall offers numerous quick-serve dining options, inclusive of a fresh Dunkin Donuts outlet.

Regular patrons of the Fremont will recall that it houses the only Dunkin Donuts located within a downtown Las Vegas casino. This establishment, originally from the east coast, had to snag a cup of their delicious coffee before departing.

At the Fremont sportsbook, there are two distinct sections. The first section features a bar equipped with 12 multi-game machines, cocktail tables, chairs, and televisions for game viewing. The second section is completely dedicated to sports, furnished with tables, a betting counter, and several kiosks.

The sportsbook, managed by Boyd Gaming, has a total of 12 tables and can seat approximately 60 people. The odds at this sportsbook are consistent with those at other Boyd casinos in Las Vegas.

Currently, FanDuel does not determine the odds for the Fremont sportsbook. Please remember that the FanDuel app is not operational anywhere in Nevada.

Those who bet a minimum of $50 or possess a Boyd Rewards Emerald card or higher can reserve the cocktail tables.

On a positive note, the bar boasts 16 beer taps and serves alcoholic slushy drinks to gamblers. However, the paytables of their video poker machines are akin to those on the Vegas Strip, as per vpFREE2. More favourable games can be found in other parts of the casino.

Sportsbooks in downtown Las Vegas

Although these sportsbooks present new brand names, the odds remain the same as their previous versions. There was once a period when a single sportsbook operator managed the sportsbooks across several downtown Las Vegas casinos.

A variety of sportsbook brands can be found in downtown Las Vegas today, including:

  • Boyd Gaming – The California Hotel & Casino
  • Downtown Grand Caesars
  • Circa Sports – Circa, Golden Gate, The D
  • FanDuel – Fremont
  • Nugget of Gold
  • El Cortez – Station Casinos
  • William Hill – Binion’s, Four Queens, Plaza

Of the seven sportsbook brands in downtown Las Vegas casinos, only five offer varying odds.

William Hill is owned by Caesars, and both of these sportsbook brands offer the same betting menu in Nevada.

The Fremont essentially underwent a brand change to FanDuel, however, the sportsbook, kiosk, and mobile sports betting app are still operated by Boyd Gaming. Boyd Sports app is still available for online and mobile bettors. Currently, the FanDuel app is not functional in Nevada.

FanDuel currently runs sportsbooks at several Boyd Gaming casinos outside Las Vegas, though this may change in the future.

Station Casinos runs the sportsbook within El Cortez. They are set to open a new sportsbook in February within the Wildfire Casino, which is currently being built to the east of the Fremont Street Experience.

The company’s flagship sportsbook is located in Circa, while the ones inside The D and Golden Gate are regarded as satellite sportsbooks.
