WSOP Draws Poker Players to Los Vegas

Playing poker at live and online World Series Of Poker (WSOP) events across the US offers a fantastic opportunity to potentially participate in the grand tournament in Las Vegas.

WSOP Circuit events began shortly after the conclusion of the 2021 WSOP tournament in Las Vegas last year. This year, the WSOP will be held on the Vegas Strip at the soon-to-be-renamed Horseshoe Las Vegas, currently known as Bally’s.

2022 Live circuit events

Last year, the live WSOP Circuit events were put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the ongoing presence of the virus, casinos and gamblers across the country are making progress.

In October, when the series was first announced, Ty Stewart, the Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the WSOP, expressed his excitement saying, “It’s been too long, so it’s great to see the Circuit hitting the road once again.”

Finding a poker player who disagrees will be challenging. The initial series of live WSOP Circuit events commenced in November at Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina. These events will carry on until March in the subsequent locations:

  • Isle Casino Pompano Park in Florida, Feb. 3 – Feb. 14.
  • February 17 to February 28: Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina
  • Bicycle Casino in California: March 5-16
  • March 17 to March 28: Turning Stone Casino in New York
  • From March 23 to April 4, stay at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino in the Bahamas.
  • Harrah’s Cherokee in North Carolina: April 7 – April 18
  • Horseshoe Tunica in Mississippi will be taking place from April 21 to May 2.

The latest WSOP Circuit event at Thunder Valley Casino in Modesto, CA was won by Victor Paredes. He had to work diligently, surviving a final table that lasted almost nine hours during the event.

Live circuit events remain important

Stewart emphasized the significance of the Circuit events for WSOP, stating:

“The WSOP-C is among our most significant undertakings, giving regional players the chance to partake in high-level poker and offering grinders a means to make a living. We’re excited about the new ‘Tournament of Champions’ format where all our winners will converge for a single event. Just secure a victory and you’re in!”

Winners of an official gold ring from either the live or online circuit will be eligible for a trip to Las Vegas. These ring winners will have the opportunity to participate in the exclusive “Tournament of Champions” event, set to occur during the 2022 WSOP in Las Vegas.

Generally, 2022 winners of online or live bracelet events will also qualify to participate in the new signature event.

Online circuit events

The inaugural online circuit event has commenced and is set to conclude on January 30. Players in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada have access to these online poker events.

This current event offers over $1 Million in guaranteed prizes, with the twelve Gold Rings being the most valued. The winners of these rings will have the opportunity to participate in the “Tournament of Champions” in Las Vegas.

WSOP to take place at the new Horseshoe Las Vegas

Additionally, last year, Caesars declared its decision to relocate the WSOP to Bally’s and Paris. However, an unexpected incident occurred on the route to WSOP 2022.

Caesars has made the decision to rename Bally’s as Horseshoe Las Vegas. Technically, the 2022 WSOP will be held at a combination of the newly named Horseshoe and Paris.

It’s likely not by chance that the inaugural WSOP event was held at Binion’s Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas, a casino now known simply as Binion’s. Regrettably, it currently lacks a live poker room.

Starting this spring, the casino will undergo both interior and exterior renovations. Although the hotel rooms will remain unchanged, all other areas within Horseshoe Las Vegas will sport a new look once the refurbishments are finished. The good news is that all renovations are expected to be completed by year-end.

The first major event to take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas should be WSOP 2022.
