Sports Betting Apps

In Nevada, four sports betting apps are currently operational. Despite the closure of land-based casinos across the state, several online gambling options still persist.

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak last week proposed the closure of non-essential businesses, including casinos, in an effort to contain the coronavirus spread. As the week concluded, this proposal was escalated to a mandatory order.

However, some sports betting apps remain open for wagering. Michael Lawton, a research analyst for the Nevada Gaming Control Board, informed the Las Vegas Review-Journal that “mobile sports betting apps are permitted to continue operations,” despite the closure of retail casinos.

Most sportsbooks have chosen to shut down their sports betting apps as well as their physical locations, but a few remain operational:

To register for a Nevada mobile sports betting account, players need to create an account at the sportsbook located within a casino. Once the account is active and funded, customers are able to place bets.

Three out of four apps allow funding of an existing account via mobile. The only mobile sports wagering app that doesn’t support mobile funding is Circa Sports.

Players can still fund a William Hill account at 7-11 stores as of today.

What are people betting on?

Currently, not many traditional sports are taking place. Seasons for the NBA, NHL, and MLB have all been postponed. However, despite the absence of live major American sports, games are still ongoing globally. The options for sports betting in the US have certainly deviated from the norm.

Sportsbooks are currently accepting bets on soccer, Australian Rules Football, and Rugby. These traditional sports are being played at the moment. While they aren’t mainstream American sports, they’ve been available for wagering before this month.

Sports bettors in Nevada are noticing an increase in non-traditional sports being offered by various sportsbooks. William Hill, over the weekend, offered odds on the Haru Basho 2020 sumo wrestling event. This week, the international sportsbook operator is presenting odds on both Men’s and Women’s table tennis (also known as ping pong) matches.

Circa Sports is considering introducing new betting options for sports gamblers in Nevada. It tried to introduce betting on the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Series Invitational over the weekend, but this was not approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board. However, Gaming Today suggests that future eNASCAR betting could receive approval.

People in Nevada are betting on sports in various ways, including live sports. Recently, Circa Sports became the first sportsbook in the state to release NFL season win totals. The totals and odds for the NFL season have experienced changes at Circa Sports due to people placing bets. Following this, William Hill has also released their NFL season win totals.

Circa Sports is not the only Nevada sportsbook with an eye on the future. Although this year’s March Madness was canceled, William Hill has already released odds for next year’s NCAA basketball championship. Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, and Kentucky are all pegged as 10-1 favorites to emerge victorious in the March Madness 2021. Below is the comprehensive list of odds for the 2021 college basketball championship.

Circa Sports is innovating NFL futures betting options. The sportsbook operator recently introduced several prop bets on Tom Brady’s inaugural season in Tampa Bay. Additionally, Caesars and BetMGM are offering futures for football and other sports, and accepting bets on non-traditional sports.

WSOP.com is open and active

Placing bets on less popular sports and future sporting events may not appeal to everyone. However, for those quarantined at home, there exists another gambling avenue. WSOP.com Nevada is the sole online poker platform running in the Silver State.

The online poker site has a shared customer base with its affiliate site in New Jersey. This merged player pool enables a larger range of games and attracts more people to participate. Essentially, by sharing the player pool, WSOP.com Nevada has more funds than it would if the player pool was confined only to Nevada.

WSOP.com Nevada accounts offer a unique convenience that sports betting apps don’t – they can be set up from anywhere within the state. To get started, sign up at WSOP.com using the exclusive Play Nevada WSOP promo code: Get10, and you’ll receive $10 free. Plus, WSOP.com is currently providing a 100% match on deposits up to $1,000.
