Formula One (F1) declared last week that the Las Vegas Grand Prix race will be held on and off the Vegas Strip next year. The race, scheduled to occur in November at night, does not have a specific date yet.

F1 continues to gain popularity in the US. The United States Grand Prix held in Austin, TX has seen attendance figures rise from 100,000 up to 400,000 for the weekend races. This substantial growth in interest has led to the introduction of the Miami Grand Prix, set to debut in May for the first time.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is set to be the third F1 race in the US next year. Despite being a relatively new and expanding market, the US will uniquely host three F1 races in 2023. Nevada authorities anticipate a turnout of 170,000 visitors in Las Vegas for the inaugural F1 race.

As F1’s popularity continues to rise, having three races in the US could boost betting interest. With Nevada sportsbooks expanding their F1 betting options weekly, this interest is expected to grow. However, only one currently offers odds for the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is still over a year and a half away, hence the lack of betting options at many sportsbooks is not surprising. However, one sportsbook operator in Nevada is already taking strides to beat the competition.

“Vegas has rapidly transformed into a hub for all major sporting events, almost overnight,” said Chuck Esposito, Director of Race and Sports Book Operations for Station Casinos. “The announcement of the Las Vegas F1 race in November 2023 only made it logical to take advantage of the sport’s global popularity and set odds for the first F1 race here in four decades. As it’s being announced as a night race on the Las Vegas Strip, this is set to quickly become a favored event for both fans and bettors on the F1 Circuit. I am confident about this.”

Station Casinos’ STN Sports is the pioneer Nevada sports betting app to provide odds on the inaugural F1 Las Vegas race. In particular, it offers odds on the team that will emerge victorious in the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Considering the possibility of drivers switching teams during the off-season, offering odds this early appears to be a reasonable approach. Team Red Bull is currently leading the pack as the top contender to win the race in Las Vegas, with odds close to even money (11/10). Ferrari and Mercedes follow in second and third positions respectively.

These are the complete odds from STN sports for the team predicted to win the first Las Vegas Grand Prix in 2023:

  • Red Bull: 1.1
  • Ferrari: 1.8 fhn
  • Mercedes: 3 to 1
  • McLaren has odds of 10 to 1.
  • Alpine: 1/10
  • AlphaTauri: 1/12
  • Alfa Romeo has odds of 12/1.
  • Aston Martin: 1/18
  • Odds for any other team than Field: 30 to 1

Nicole Russo of The Lines shared her insights on placing early bets for the Las Vegas Grand Prix odds:

“Stations deserves significant recognition for promptly releasing these lines and leveraging the anticipation of F1’s arrival in Vegas. However, from a bettor’s point of view, I would advise caution when considering a futures bet on a race this far in advance. Factors like changes to the power units of the F1 cars, which can be altered until September 2022, could significantly influence both upcoming race results and betting odds. While it’s entertaining to discuss this market early, it’s currently challenging to actually place a bet on it.”

The following is sound guidance for many: be wary of “way-too-early” odds in any sport. While it’s enjoyable to place the initial bet for an event, it’s prudent to proceed with caution. There’s a long way to go and a lot can change between now and November 2023.

Although the exact date and time have yet to be confirmed, preparations are underway for the inaugural F1 race in Las Vegas. Here’s some fundamental information about the Las Vegas Grand Prix Course:
